In 2021, End Book Deserts became an established 501(c)(3) organization.
We are grateful for the leadership of our Board.
Originally from Canada, Duane now calls Chicago home where he works with brands and entrepreneurs as creative director, copywriter, and social media consultant. His love of books drew him to the organization from its inception, and when not nose-first in a novel, you can find Duane on the disc golf course or bent over his latest board game creation.
Jarrett Lerner is an author / illustrator and literacy advocate. In addition to be a kid and teacher favorite, he frequently presents at conferences. He illustrates books about farting robots, superheroic taco ingredients, and other very serious matters.
Wisconsin-based, Heather is a lifelong teacher. She taught for ten years at the elementary level, and
has worked as a Staff Developer and Peer Coach. Recently she has switched to teaching middle school and high school. She has continued to support beginning teachers as a Master Teacher and Instructional Coach at the 6-12 grades in all content areas.
